Members of Boy Scouts troop rescued after falling out of raft
Four members of a Gig Harbor Boy Scouts troop safely made it to shore after they fell out of their raft on the Wenatchee River Saturday afternoon.
Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Harris said the four fell out of river after coming across turbulent waters near the 11,000 block of Riverbend Drive around 3:30 p.m. Two of the people in the raft were able to make it to shore and the other two made it to some rocks in the river about 30 feet away from shore.
The two on the rocks were a 13-year-old boy and a guide from Orion River Expeditions, the company that was guiding the troop’s rafting trip. They waited on the rocks until they were rescued.
No one was injured during the rescue.
"The boy was pretty shaken up, but other than that everyone ended up being fine," Harris said.
